I recently had the pleasure of creating a promotional video with a difference featuring none other that President Donald Trump! It wasn’t the real U.S President of course but was in fact the brilliant impressionist Mike Osman. It was the first time I had met and worked with Mike and what a brilliant and funny experience it was. The promo film was for waste management company L&S Waste who have depots in Southampton, Fareham and Portsmouth. They are a big operation who obviously have a company ethos of working hard but having a sense of humour and having a laugh at work at the same time. Sounds like a recipe for success to me.

It was an all day shoot at the company’s three different locations with ‘Mr President‘ meeting staff at each location to find out what they do. The weather was good for filming. In fact a bit too good as it was such a sunny day and a little windy too. Huge thanks to Abbie Jones who helped me on the shoot. Abbie worked the Ronin-S gimble mounted camera on the opening shot and was sound boom operator for the rest of the shoot. Abbie was my student at Solent Uni when I worked there and as I write this is starting her third year in Media Production.

There was a fair bit of pre-production planning that went in to the shoot and that helped make it a great success. Great fun too was the edit where I used some sound effects and a bit of comedic timing to add to the humour of the piece. There are some laugh out loud moments for sure. I stitched together an out-takes reel that is very funny as we see Mike kidding with the staff as they fluff their lines (as does Mike!). Worth a watch for more laughs for sure:

All in all it was a great experience for all involved. Thanks to Mike for his comedy genius and to all the team at L&S Waste for putting up with a film crew during their working day.
