As part of a larger project for the The Chalet I recently did a food and drink photoshoot. The Chalet is an alpine themed wine bar in Eastleigh near Southampton. The decor in The Chalet is pretty amazing with twinkly inviting lighting that gives an amazing welcoming atmosphere.
So the mission was to create a series of images that represented not only the venue surroundings, but the food and drinks available to the customers. As I always say, having great professional images for your business is all important.
If you are a gear head then you might want to know that my kit for the shoot was a Canon EOS R with a Tamron 24-70 lens. My lighting kit was 2 x 400w Elinchrom studio strobes with one square shaped soft box and one large octobox which is double diffused. My favourite light on the shoot was a little USB chargeable LED camera light which I could sit behind a bottle or just off to the side on the bar to get some cool effects.
The warm lighting in the venue did present a challenge when photographing the food so lots of trial and error with white balance settings and lighting set ups, and sometimes just using the ambient light.
The images came out looking terrific. The Chalet team are well chuffed and not only are there fab images for their new website (coming soon!) but about 6 months worth of images for their Instagram and Facebook profiles.
