What is it about the VW camper van? It’s a classic sure enough. The old style van that conjures up images of California surfer dudes and endless blue skies and ocean. It is a part of popular culture that has endured for 60 years. The modern vans are cool too though and especially when they have been customised with body kits, lowered suspension and cool alloy wheels.
It was a real pleasure then to do a photo and video promo shoot for Wessex Vans who do amazing customisations of VW vans.
The van was a brand new T6.1 with a full exterior and interior build. Wessex Vans are based in Poole so I got to looking for a cool location to film the van. Poole is mega busy in the height of summer so getting a little bit off the beaten track was what I had in mind. I found this cool campsite called Knoll Farm Campsite near Wareham. It was 20 minutes from Poole but nice and rural. It was such a cool place and I would recommend it if you fancy a weekend camping in beautiful Dorset. It was such a stunning day for the shoot (a bit too hot!) and the video came out pretty cool:
As you can see in the video there was a bit of Top Gear style on the road filming. Huge thanks to my old sparring partner Andy Wilkin for bringing his own super cool T6 and letting me film out the side and back as we trundled down the road near Sandbanks Ferry. We attracted the attention of the traffic cops though! They were fine about it luckily.
The photos turned out great in the campsite location:
