Product Photo Shoot for the Tweedy Clothing Jewellery Range
This photo shoot for Tweedy Clothing’s jewellery range gave me the opportunity to do some more product photography from my home studio here in Southampton. Jewellery is such an interesting photography subject as the pieces are always beautiful and interesting to look at and especially up close. The shoot followed on from work I did for Tweedy Clothing to upgrade their online store website. That project was a great success so it was brilliant to take on more work for team Tweedy!
I have been saying for years that your images on your website are what sets you apart. Great site and great photography, they go hand in hand. That is especially true in an online store! This work also followed on from jewellery photography I had done just recently for AnnB Crafts.
Part of the shoot was on the standard white background format. I set up a product photography table in my studio and got to work. It takes a little while to assemble the table and set up the infinity curve. Basically it is a big sheet of white plastic and a bolt together aluminium frame. I also used two LED lights and a strobe flash shooting through an umbrella.
I also wanted to shoot against some natural backgrounds like stone and wood. I had some fab results doing that previously for the recent and original jewellery photoshoots for Annb. I wanted to be a bit different for this shoot. Different client so a different look but the same concept.
I first shot some of the pieces against a large piece of polished wood and got some good results but the wood felt a bit too polished and clean. Next I grabbed an old log from the wood pile down the garden and used that. The rough textures of the bark and the sawn edge look great against the silver jewellery pieces.
For shooting against the stone I had the idea to use a bag of sand to create my own table top beach! I set up a table and added the sand and a large sandstone rock. I set the table up with the green foliage behind it.
Between the stone, the sand and the two different wood textures I had a lot of creative options.
Have a little watch at this video I put together featuring some of the photography.
My kit for the shoot was:
Camera - Canon EOS R
Lens - Tamron 24-70mm
Viltrox DG-C Auto Focus AF TTL Extension Tube Ring
Yongnuo RF 603 II/C3 (Version II) Wireless Flash Trigger for Canon
Neewer NW-670 TTL Flash Speedlite
Plus light stands, product table, LED lights, white umbrella.
